Indexable tools are cutters that have a replaceable cutting edge and are used with indexable inserts. These inserts have multiple cutting edges that can be rotated or replaced when worn out. Used in milling, drilling, grooving, and cut-off applications, they extend tool life and reduce costs.
Turning tools remove workpiece material, typically using single-point tool bits. The turning process is performed on a computer numerical control (CNC) machine, such as a lathe. Turning tools cut grooves and curves on the external surface of a workpiece. Boring removes material on internal surfaces. Common turning tools include cut-off blades and grooving bars.
Milling tools are used in milling machines to remove metal, plastic, and wood from a workpiece. Milling typically involves movement along three axes where the workpiece is fed past a rotating cutter in order to produce a desired form. These types of tools are used in slotting, pocketing, and chamfering applications.
Threading tools are cutting tools that create screw threads. Threading taps make internal screw threads, also known as female screw threads, and dies produce male screw threads, also known as external screw threads. Threading tools are used in milling machines, lathes, or they can be operated manually.
Countersink and counterbore tools create holes for fasteners to sit flush with or below the surface of a workpiece. Countersinks make cone-shaped holes that accommodate the head of a screw or rivet. They’re also used for chamfering and deburring. Counterbores increase the diameter at the mouth of a pre-drilled hole, creating a seat for a fastener.
Files, burrs, and deburring tools remove unwanted workpiece material. Files are used for removing burrs in addition to shaping and finishing holes and grooves. Choose files based on how fast the material is to be removed and the desired finish. Burrs are cutters that remove excess metal and smooth sharp edges of a workpiece. Deburring is the process of removing these metal flecks left behind after a machining process.
We offer a wide range of drills, taps, and endmills from high speed, carbide, to specialty materials and coatings to provide efficient, cost-effective solutions. Coatings to include TIN, TICN, TiALn, to all of the next generations of solutions.
